Intro
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. This boot has remained unchanged for the last four seasons. So what to say that hasn't already been said? It's still a leader in its category and can be used for anything from long tours over technical terrain to bluebird days ripping it up in the sidecountry. This boot has everything you need in the right place and is a breeze to use. It has blazed a trail and is still up there as one of the best boots in its category.
Walking
Considering the distances and verticals covered by skis in this segment and the stride rhythm required, and considering that we are talking about an overlap design, the fore and aft range of motion is unbeatable. If we really want to nitpick, when in motion you can feel a slight resistance in the plastics. The thin, tapered shape of the shell makes it nice and agile on technical terrain and when scrambling.
Lab
The boot is easy to slip on and off, despite being an overlap which are generally harder to put on than a cabrio. The ergonomic buckles close firmly and are easy to use when wearing gloves, though sometimes the cable gets stuck in the ladder. The power strap is very thin and static; it tends to move around if not correctly positioned and tightened. The liner was improved last season and the ski/walk mechanism is still excellent, staying firmly in place once engaged.
Skiing
I volumi interni, molto bilanciati e giusti per la maggior parte dei piedi, permettono un’ottima trasmissione degli impulsi durante la sciata. Only those with a very high instep or very wide feet will need to get the shell heat molded. The forward flexion is gradual and responsive, never abrupt, and it doesn't bulge. The spine is solid and helps to recover a central stance in case of mistakes or sudden changes in the snow. A good compromise between sensitivity with the terrain and speed when getting an edge—when considering its height off the ground. The stiff plastics together with the thin liner can tire out inexperienced feet by the end of the day.
