Intro
This binding is going head-to-head with stablemate Oazo, which is around 60 g (2 oz) lighter. The real difference is in the heel piece, which has adjustable lateral and forward release settings, unlike the Oazo, where you have to choose a 4, 6 or 8 spring at the moment of purchase. The toe piece is the same, while the heel piece has just one versatile climbing aid, instead of the Oazo's two. The brake is not pre-installed, but available as an optional extra; it's the same Light model used for the Oazo, with user-friendly lock system. The ramp angle is low, suiting modern skis and all types of feet.
Fit
As with most Plum toe pieces there's not much to say; it works smoothly with certified Dynafit inserts (though not quite as well as the Oazo), and pretty well with other inserts—better than the Karibou—though it's easier to insert one pin at a time, old style. There are no step-in aids and the lever is easy to handle or adjust using your pole when transitioning. The structure is light (as it's machined from one piece), yet robust and there are two springs per toe arm. The heel riser only has one 50 mm climbing position—a versatile height for classic touring. From flat mode rotate the tower in either direction until it clicks.
