Intro
The all-new Explorair is Scott’s lightweight touring ski. Scott has believed for decades that innovation and technology are what drive the sport, and they are not taking any shortcuts. With its new shape and graphic it’s aimed at the new-school ski tourer who wants to break away from the standard ski. Innovative skin notches make transitions quick and painless. The profile of the ski lets you change up your turns and really enjoy the freedom of the mountains.
On the snow
A stiff ski isn't for everyone, but the Scott Explorair 88 has won some fans for what it has to offer. At first there is a bit of a learning curve as it’s not easy to get in and out of a turn. The ski feels heavy but that gives its downhill performance an edge that a lighter ski can’t compete with. It would suit an intermediate-to-advanced skier as it requires a little skill to get the best from it. A wide shovel makes for good float in fresh powder, even when a little windblown. If you like a stiff tail that keeps you in a forward stance, this ski does exactly that, even when conditions get challenging.
