Our technical team knows the products better than anyone. For over twenty years now, we’ve been bench, lab, and snow testing every new innovation in the sector. We conduct in- depth discussions with the manufacturers’ R&D teams and work hard to give detailed, independent, and honest evaluations of everything, in language that’s easy to understand for beginners and professionals alike.

We check everything in the lab before skiing

We weigh skis and boots, one by one, pole by pole, noting the differences. We also check the ski's rocker, camber, flex, load-bearing surface and lots of other data with our exclusive machine. We then measure the internal and external dimensions of ski boots, liner warmth, drop between the front and rear pins on bindings, water-resistance of climbing skins and much more.

We have published the printed version of our Buyer's Guide for almost 20 years, and it’s become the leading resource on ski mountaineering and freeride gear worldwide: 640 pages that have earned the nicknamed «the Bible». No brand has ever paid us a cent to be featured in our tests.

All skis prepared in the exact same way to measure data

We analyze every detail of how the skis are prepared to evaluate whether they are ready to use on the snow as they are, and then we get our trusted ski servicer to prepare them all in the same way and mount the same binding on all skis within a category to ensure test parameters are identical across all products. All gear is weighed and measured.
