Intro
Some might see the big camber and be put off. No fear, we have tested it and for those who want a ski that’s light and easy to ski for strong skiers, the Transalp has your back. For years Fischer have focused on innovation in their touring collection and overall acceptance from the skimo community. Judging by its performance on the snow, all that hard work has paid off. On the whole, the Transalp 86 tested well in all conditions and on all types of turn. So if the Ortler or Chamonix to Zermatt traverses are high up on your bucket list, this could be the ski for you.
On the snow
When heading out on the mountain just after a storm, any 80 mm ski is going to be a little out of its league. Or so we thought. The wind-packed powder proved to be enjoyable with the Transalp and as the testers passed it around throughout the day, the conditions never seemed to be of concern. On short-to-medium radius turns the ski really performed and, despite the big camber, felt very responsive and agile. When you find some open terrain and try to hit the gas, you sacrifice a little control. That said, with this ski you can take on some serious vertical, and where serious vertical is concerned, the last thing you want to do is go mach speed downhill. You just want to stack some turns with your buddies. The name speaks for itself; most would take it for a Transalp and not be disappointed.
