Intro
The all-new Ripstick 88 is for skiers who want to clock up some mileage, whatever the conditions. One of the only skis with an Amphibio Profile (dedicated left and right skis). Not many brands have adopted this technology, but many high-level skiers do prefer a specific inside and outside edge on their skis. Elan skis have always been on the lighter side without sacrificing downhill performance. With a wide range of lengths, the Ripstick truly caters to all skiers. For our testers the 177cm length seemed to be ideal.
On the snow
One of the unique features of this ski is the profile. The asymmetrical Amphibio shape allows for total edge control on each and every turn. This ski really shines when hopping from edge to edge, making it fun for spring touring and corn skiing. Without wanting to sound like a broken record, the Ripstick offers great downhill stability and control for its weight. It’s damp and playful when conditions allow, but the skier needs to have control of the ski, which only comes with advanced technique. One tester noticed its shovel and was genuinely surprised at the overall floatation of the ski compared to similar models in the category.
