Intro
Part of Dynafit’s fast and light range, the Blacklight Pro comes to the market weighing a svelte 910 g. Think of it as a wider race model, for those who want to embark on epic vertical adventures, this ski will feel light as a feather. With so many people these days attempting single pushes, FKTs and other lightweight challenges, the Blacklight Pro is by far one of the best skis out there for this type of endeavor. Some may prefer a wider ski and Dynafit has you covered with the Blacklight 88—slightly heavier, but you have a bit more ski underfoot. This is no playful new-schooler ski, but one that gets you up the hill as quickly and efficiently as possible.
On the snow
Right from the very first turn you can feel the weight (or lack thereof) of the Blacklight Pro. It’s a stiff ski that needs to be skied. Take the time to get used to it, because it has other attributes that ski mountaineers might like. It’s responsive on short-radius turns and precise in firm conditions, but you often have to put some effort in when the snow is variable or heavy. As you would expect, when skinning or bootpacking, it’s fast and agile on even the most technical terrain. With fitness skiing becoming more popular, this ski does just about everything you want on-piste. However, its low weight sacrifices dampness, putting it at a disadvantage in icier conditions.
