Intro
Having been put through their paces for three years, winner of last year's People's Choice award, and in the absence of the women's XT version, this is the best buckled boot in the F1 range, and cements its reputation as a solid choice for a wide audience within this class. It's a versatile boot suited both for long missions with plenty of vertical, and enjoying the downhill, providing superior support for the Light category. If you're after a more race-oriented option, go for the F1 LT.

Walking
Whether bootpacking or skinning, underfoot sensitivity is excellent, though perhaps not best in class. The cuff rotation is well balanced between fore and aft. Despite the ample travel, though, control is still good—above average for a boot in this class—a factor that inspires confidence when tackling technical terrain. The Vibram sole rounds off this model, providing reassuring footing even rocky sections or exposed ridges.
Lab
Foot entry, achieved by tilting the cuff back, is quite natural and effortless. The Tour LT2 liner features Intuition foam and delivers a lightweight yet snug fit that really hugs the foot. The tongue immediately instills confidence, and you can customize it in various ways, for example by adding a spacer on the calf. The fit's even, but quite narrow; if you have wide feet your toes might feel a little cramped. Hassle-free buckles.
Skiing
The technical fit might not be to everyone’s liking when skinning, but really shines on the downhill. Optimal precision and a remarkable perceived flex for a boot weighing just one kilo. The power strap provides good shin support and the lower buckle with cable anchored to three points allows for micro-adjustment of the fit, which translates to precision and excellent edge hold. And tying it all together is the super easy-to-use ski/walk lever. Even after a long ascent, this boot will leave you looking forward to the descent, whether it be linking high speed turns or tackling steep terrain. Be cautious about pairing it super-wide skis, though; it's still a lightweight two-buckle boot: 80 to 90 mm underfoot is ideal.
