Intro
Touring model with very varied intended uses, it uses the famous reverse lever system of Ski Trab. On top of this, the elasticity of the system, which holds the jaws apart and lets them work slightly independently, absorbs vibrations better and prevents pre-releases. The heel employs the same very practical snap-flap system as the race version that parks the brake when touring, and is super-easy to use. You have to select your release values at the time of purchase: 5-7, 7-9 or 9-11. The pre-set front lever strength also means you don’t have to lock out the toe in touring mode, with benefits in terms of avalanche safety.
Fit
In terms of use, it's one of the smartest bindings out there and makes life easier, especially on missions with lots of reascents and changes in slope angle. We really like the maneuverability of the heel as well as the small differences in height between the three climbing aids, which all useful. Because let’s be honest: if you’re up on the very highest of the super-high climbing aids found on most bindings, you're probably doing something wrong. The toe is the classic version exclusive to Ski Trab, which cleverly exploits the elastic qualities of the shaped titanium wire that houses the jaws holding the pins. Simply press the lever to open them and release it once you’ve stepped in.
