Intro
This ski is designed to give the highest performance on the descent for Ski Trab's Light Pro Touring series. The series includes the Maestro.2 and Magico.2, which have the same construction with ash-wood and aramid-fiber honeycomb paired with lightweight wood and laminates. It is also the widest of the series and has a tip and especially tail that rise less from the overall profile. It's back in a revised version after a year off.
On the snow
The open mountain, far from groomed runs, comes with extreme variability in ski conditions. And this calls for a bit of experience. But that's what the Mistico.2 is all about. It's designed to always have your back, whether it's on fresh snow, crust, or over a lengthy haute route. For (quote-unquote) "well-rounded" ski mountaineers in search of a lightweight ski for long outings, and for those with extensive experience on various snow conditions from dozens of outings. A more gradual ski with a less aggressive personality than the Magico.2, it can go anywhere, except on groomers. In powder, you need to stay centered on the ski to bring out the tip. On packed snow, you can ski more aggressively and load the tip. You can feel the structure of this ski. It's more rigid than soft — a snowplow that breaks the crust and will last for years. It's not a difficult ski, but it does take a bit of technique. One step above the Wayback or Backland 88, if you know what I mean.
Lab
Slightly convex at tip and tail (excellent for starting turns), flat at the waist. Fish-scale pattern with linear grooves at the center, waxed. Good edges 1.4 x 1.4 mm at 89.5°, based edge 0.5°, slight edge at tip and tail. Well tuned, could be taken onto the snow as is.
