Test Center Cervino Ski Paradise

To test the equipment and skins for the Race category, we based ourselves in Breuil-Cervinia

Share

The area is our testing ground throughout the year, thanks to its vicinity to Skialper HQ. And also because, since last year, the resort in Valle d’Aosta is one of the few in Europe where you can ski eleven months of the year. The summer ski lifts closed on September 7 and reopened in early October, just in time for you to get your hands on this copy of the Guide. From October to September, you can ski from the lowest altitudes when there’s sufficient snow cover, to over 3,000 m above sea level on the Rosa Plateau, the Swiss glacier also reachable from the Italian side, where snow is guaranteed even at the height of summer. The glacier offers 25 km of pistes, reached via the lifts from Breuil-Cervinia in just over 30 minutes. For the last couple of seasons, Breuil-Cervinia has expanded its facilities with the new Matterhorn Glacier Paradise cable car connecting Testa Grigia to Piccolo Cervino, so even non skiers can reach nearby Zermatt using the lifts.

Ski poles: they’re in control

They’re an excellent investment. The least expensive piece of kit, but one that has an outsized influence on technique, both on the way up, and especially on the way down

Safety, you’d better go prepared

Avalanches make no distinction between experts and beginners, and when something happens, what matters is clarity of mind, the ability to communicate, and the ability to act quickly as a team
