If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
In a category where there are precious few new ideas, the awards risk blurring into one, with the same models winning out year after year. As the saying goes, if it ain’t broke... The truth is, the best are all pretty similar, each one with a feature that puts it slightly ahead of the rest.

It was a close run thing between this and the Dynastar M-Pierra Menta. The latter had come out on top in previous years as it’s more of an all-rounder, as a product of the year should be. But in the highly specific Race category, it’s only fitting that the ski of the year should be the baddest of the bunch, and from the only brand with four race skis in its lineup.

Ideal for athletes not within easy reach of the podium. The Mezzalama is fun, easy to handle, and helps those in the middle of the pack, from on-piste races to La Grande Course. And that’s no mean feat.
Pro's choice
For once we’re bucking the trend. Though you’ll find this model at the feet of some elite athletes, it’s not a demanding ski, and helps intermediates. But there’s no doubt that on the right athlete, the M-Pierra Menta turns into a lethal weapon.
