Intro
This model has become something of an institution on the skimo scene. Aside from updating the graphic and a few other tweaks here and there, the M-Pierra Menta is basically the same ski that has been one of our top picks for years, thanks to its classic shape and reassuring behavior on all terrain. Designed to reward good technique and well-trained skiers, it unites elite and mid-level athletes, and what's more, is the only model with a synthetic core made from Microcell foam. If it ain't broke...

On the snow
For years now, Dynastar has been marketing what is basically the same ski, yet to this day it remains unequaled. No other ski is this versatile. Ideal for elite athletes who can harness its power without tiring, but also great for those without perfect technique, who will benefit from it without realizing. The former will appreciate its energy-saving capabilities, along with the control at speed and in wide turns. The latter will find the tail supportive during those moments of hesitation. It accelerates when it can, and simplifies when necessary. The tricky thing is to build a ski that's easy to manage but never dull. The result is intuitive and precise, reassuring but never bland, with just the right balance of liveliness and sensitivity. A ski that, like a fine wine, improves with age. A versatile, high performance ski, just as suited to top athletes as those further down the results table. Hard to beat.

Lab
Base almost flat, perfectly so after four runs through the machine. Medium structure, lots of wax. Pretty good edges 1.5 x 1.5 mm at 89°, base bevel 0.80°. Rough but ok finish, protruding sidewall. For many it can go out on the snow as is, with a few retouches it's unstoppable.
