    Intro
Elan's race ski, this is a part of their Lynx line of lightweight skis, which includes a model with an 82 mm waist. This 65 UL is available in 150 and 160 cm lengths and is in line with current race and sport skiing trends, from its weight and shape to its sidecut radius of more than 20 meters. It sports an early-rise tip and split tail. The wood construction, too, which extends to tip and tail and is sandwiched between layers of carbon-fiber composite, is not common.

    On the snow
Soft, above all else. That's the immediate feeling you get, but it's a double-edged sword. It enters the turn super easy and can be the most fun of the bunch in tight turns. It prefers fresh snow or a bit of chop on terrain that isn't excessively steep, where even high-level skiers will have some fun. However, its soft construction means you need to stay centered and not look to the tails for support. The tips are also lightweight. Its limitations come out on hard terrain, especially if you try to widen the turns and hit the accelerator. You can't apply pressure much beyond your foot without feeling like you're skating, especially if you're looking to carve. The sideslip that's a plus on soft terrain and in tight turns can turn into instability or chatter, especially for energetic skiers who prize decisiveness over sensitivity. Nice and fun, it's a specific sort of ski and may be a bit unfinished.

    Lab
Nicely flat, but slightly concave at the tip. No structure (raw base repair), not waxed. Good edges, 1.5 x 1.3 mm at 89°, base edge 1.5° (too much). Definitely needs tuning and waxing before hitting the snow.
