Intro
A smart choice if you’re after a lightweight setup that’s easy on your wallet. This Race model features the same heel brake as on top-tier bindings for only 20 grams more—but at a significantly lower cost and the same features as top-of-the-range models. The production cost savings coming from reduced machining are immediately obvious, especially in the solid-looking toepiece. But the heel unit (apart from the climbing aid) is identical to those on ATK’s two flagship models. And one really nice touch: the titanium U-spring includes two hardened steel cylinders to prevent wear.
Fit
Offers the same functionality and performance as ATK’s two higher-end models—the Revolution Brake World Cup and SL Brake World Cup. Up front, the feel is slightly different and arguably more satisfying, thanks to the snappy, energetic response of the dual-spring jaw, as opposed to the smoother, cam action used in the top models. Pin alignment at the toe is exceptionally intuitive—the name Easy Entry System isn’t just marketing—and the heel brake is essentially identical to the one found on ATK’s flagship bindings and performs better.
