Intro
Light is right when it comes to the Zero G Series. Without sacrificing downhill stability, the Zero G 88 (this ski replaces the Zero G 85) really shines on the uphill. Stiffer than most, the Zero G provides a unique opportunity to ski hard in almost all conditions. More than ever there are skiers with summit fever who want to make it to the peak, but don't want to use a race ski. In the Alps and other tall ranges your skis spend a lot of time on your backpack, so weight is crucial.
On the snow
This ski has been in the mix for years (in the 85 version), so the testing team understood their mission: this was a model to be skied hard. The Zero G 88 is designed for the expert skier whose goal is to clock up as much vertical as possible, but still expects performance on the way down. Given its overall stiffness, it requires a skier able to weight the ski in the apex of the turn and release when exiting. Failure to do so means the ski could take you on a more direct trajectory and you find yourself with less control. That said, this is a tool, a tool for the summit-oriented skier who cares more about uphill performance than downhill. As any light ski afficionado will tell you, every gram counts.
