Intro
The Trofeo is ATK’s entry-level race model. By contrast, its Plus version, which has four different release settings and the standard R01 slider track providing 30 mm of adjustment, transforms it into a lightweight touring model that’s excellent value for money. The toe features two springs on just one jaw, while the other is solid metal: less machining time means reduced production costs. The ski crampon slot is removable. Want more features? Then check out the Haute Route Plus—which has adjustable release values, CAM System and new Speed toe—or the Kuluar 12 SL, which has a lighter toe but still has adjustable release values.
Fit
Like the Brake version, it's called Trofeo, but only the toe piece is the same, which is easy to step into and provides powerful closure. Your foot will appreciate the slight increase to the drop because the extremely useful R01 adjustment plate in the heel raises the height of the U spring by a few millimeters. It takes a bit of force to snap the heel into the rear pins because the U spring is in steel lacks the rotating hardened metal sleeves. When touring, the absence of the brake makes it easier to deploy the riser flap as you don't need to overcome friction from the spring.
