«Who hasn't ever been attacked by a fleet of sharks during a ski touring vacation far from home? Having a graphite candle and a scraper with you can save you in any situation!»

More and more often, we find ourselves skiing on unpredictable snow conditions. With increasingly rare winter snowfalls that should provide a safety layer between the rocks and our skis, it's not uncommon to return from a trip—even the simplest ones—with some cuts on the ski bases.

If we have a trusted workshop nearby, the ideal solution is to take our skis for a thorough check. However, when we're far from home, perhaps on the other side of the world, and don't have access to a ski service, it's a good practice to always carry a graphite candle and a scraper with us. These tools allow us to make a temporary repair, which helps maintain the glide of the skis and ensures we can still enjoy the descent. In this video, created in collaboration with XL Mountain, Danilo explains step by step how to perform this type of repair.
