Intro
This is the women's version of the Solar II and fully reflects its characteristics and project aims: practicality and comfort combined with easy skiing behavior, for all-round use and appeal to a wide range of women tourers. Unlike the unisex version, there is no Skorpius version above this model. A boot geared towards newcomers to the world of ski touring seeking an intuitive product, starting with the practical Boa dial for customizing the fit.
Walking
It walks very well, thanks to a truly remarkable leg range of motion (which seems even greater than stated), allowing a fluid, natural walking gait. This is helped by the absence of buckles across the instep and the conveniently-positioned Boa. The comfortable fit ensures a very natural movement while walking, allowing the toes to work too. Its low weight (and low perceived weight) makes it a boot for those out to do serious amounts of vert.
Lab
Foot insertion is a breeze, thanks to the tongue that folds completely forward and, once on, the boots immediately feel very comfortable. The interior feels roomy but with the space evenly distributed, and the forefoot is quite wide. The liner is light but features a rigid tongue. The Boa system makes dialing in shell fit easy, while cuff adjustments (lever-operated power strap and swing-long ski/walk mech) require a bit of practice when wearing gloves. The two power bands lock the shin securely in place.
Skiing
Comfort and soft plastics don't usually make for downhill performance and stiffness. And the same can also be said for the Stellar II. You can feel the instep lacks a buckle and the shin lacks support. This is not a problem because the project’s aim is to make things easier: for novice ski tourers and a most average-level tourers this can be a good tool for carving at reduced cruise speeds. It might also appeal to old-school women tourers who prefer linking tight, composed turns and seeking a more relaxed descent (and ascent). However, overly aggressive inputs (or straying beyond the boundaries of the Light world) are both definite no-nos, as such cases the plastic will tend to bulge and collapse forward.
