Intro
The letter R denotes Plum's race bindings, of which the 170 is the heaviest, halfway between a light and a race model (it's no coincidence that it's part of Vivian Bruchez's setup). It's basically an R150 with an extra 25 mm adjustment track on the heel. The sturdy toe piece, with two springs per wing arm, has been shaped by precision machining, though less aggressively than the pure race models. The crampon slot and brake (or leash) are optional extras, in accordance with the brand philosophy that lets the skier decide what they actually need. The brake sits under the toe piece and can be attached with two simple screws. It locks when you close the binding.
