Intro
At 85 mm underfoot it's the narrowest, lightest ski in the touring line from the Polish skimaker, which also includes 91, 95 and 103 mm models. In terms of shape it's identical to the Superscout, which uses slightly different materials, like fiberglass instead of biaxial carbon fiber and carbon-kevlar. The result is a ski that weights around 100 g less, designed to be lightweight, responsive and flexible, while maintaining a stiff structure.

On the snow
If you know the Tatra mountains, where the Superscout Carbon was born, you get it. Like the Hagan Ultra 84 and the Dynastar M-Tour 85, it's a light ski for doing a little of everything on open terrain, but is undeterred by more committing lines and couloirs. Though not specifically for steep terrain and gullies, it seems to enjoy them, as long as it's being skied by someone experienced. Its natural habitat is deep in the heart of the backcountry, like the Tatra. It's not immediately intuitive, but after a few turns you get a handle on it and from then on it's plain sailing. It easily switches from wide to narrow turns, is responsive without being twitchy, light on the uphill, doesn't tire you out and is nimble when it encounters moguls. Among the narrower models, it's the one most at home at speed. The early-rise tip and forward mount position make it more progressive than other all-rounders. These Poles know their onions, that's for sure.

Lab
Concave at the tip and tail, still not flat after 10 passes through the machine. Badly applied structure; little wax. Thin edges 1.5 x 1.2 mm at 90.2°, base edge 1.2°. Uneven finish, needs tuning.
