Intro
This is the only full pin binding to receive safety certification from the TÜV (not even its twin the 14 has this). It's a fact that really sets it apart from its competitor, and was achieved by adding in some horizontal pivot capability to the toe piece. It’s a fully-featured binding, and everything about it communicates robustness and safety, starting from the aggressive crampon-style teeth on the brake end caps. Take into account that all this comes with a little extra weight, in line with some hybrid models.
Fit
The lever, though not particularly long, is wide enough to make it easy to operate with gloves on. It's also easy to open using a pole, thanks to the angle and wide base. Aligning the pins is easy thanks to the stopper, but even better with Dynafit inserts. To lock out the brake in ascent you need to rotate the tower 90° and push it down, something that takes a little strength and practice. As well as flat mode there are two climbing positions with flaps that are easily adjustable with pole baskets. The ramp angle is higher than average for modern bindings, better for long feet and classic skiers. Its durability and safety features would suggest it would be well-suited for more demanding use than the Tour segment.
