Intro
This is the second year on the market for Nordica’s most ski-touring oriented boot ever, albeit one that stays faithful to its alpine skiing DNA. It’s an overlap model with a GripWalk sole, meaning it’s compatible with both piste and touring bindings. The look is sleek and essential with an interesting and innovative shell closure system. It’s their top-of-the-range product that also includes 130 and 120 flex versions with PU shell and sole.
Walking
The top-of-the-range model features a superbly grippy Michelin GripWalk sole. Note, however, it’s not very rockered so not ideal for long bootpacks without skis. When skinning, cuff range is limited by the high plastic of the shell which impedes optimal rearward ankle flex, while forward flex is what you would expect for a boot of this class. For ascents of around 600-800 meters. The shell closure is well designed, with both levers being closed with just one action.
Lab
Ingresso e uscita non tradiscono l’imprinting alpino della casa: vanno allargati bene i lembi del gambetto o dello scafo e l'operazione diventa semplice, soprattutto per chi arriva dalla pista. Once in position, comfort reigns supreme. La scarpetta è ben imbottita e rifinita, con un foam morbido, e i volumi interni sono abbastanza abbondanti. We really like how well the cabled buckles work.
Skiing
Non è rigido e non punta ossessivamente sulla precisione quanto piuttosto su pastosità e aggressività delle plastiche che risultano equilibrate per la categoria e non soffrono le torsioni generate da sci larghi. This means it can safely be paired with skis over 100 mm wide. To the rear, the very high shell support and the sturdy release lever are among the most robust out there. Transitioning from uphill to downhill mode is swift and intuitive thanks to the simple, precise rear ski/walk lever and single buckle for closing the shell. Those looking for a one-quiver boot for both on- and off-piste use and the occasional ascent, great comfort and warm feet have found one of the most modern boots out there.
