Intro
The new features of this full pin are the addition of the Plus versions which, in addition to adding a model with increased release values of up to 12, now incorporate a dual climbing aid. Everything else stays the same, starting with the horizontal sliding action of the front pin jaws. The lateral and forward release values in the heel are separately adjustable and it features a sprung slider with 10 mm of travel to compensate for shortening that occurs as the ski flexes. There are two non-Plus versions: 10 and 7, the latter with release values from 3, suitable for lighter skiers.
Fit
The real advantage of being able to step into the front pins without having to lock out is less about ease of use, and more about the added safety that comes from the ski releasing when necessary (for example if you’re caught in an avalanche during the ascent). The heel turret is easy to operate and rotation is virtually resistance-free, while the two climbing aids offer a good range of heights—ideal also for long feet. Beefy ski brake with long, durable arms, so great also for inbounds use.
