Intro
The lightweight version of the Raider AP is a new release for 24/25 featuring the new Speed toe with hybrid hole drill pattern. But this project also fulfills the aim of providing a freetour-oriented binding with high-end features at an affordable price (coming in at 80 euros less than the AP version and 150 euros less than the Evo). But a reduced price doesn’t mean compromises in quality or functionality, as it’s packed with many of ATK’s patented innovations, from the CAM Release System to the Elastic Response System and the same heel as their other Raiders.
Fit
Discovering the same efficiency and effectiveness as previous Raiders for a weight saving of a few dozen grams was a real pleasure. But what really put a smile on our faces was noting the robustness of the pin jaws and the seatings in which they rotate—a feature that impressed us on the previous Raider toe unit. The offset screw pattern on the toe piece ensures compatibility with all modern ski sizes, while out on the mountain, the design facilitates everything action, starting with the two magnetic heel riser flaps. The Cam Release System allows you to really power edges and bend skis more than any other pin heel piece without feeling any over-torquing or sideways play. Instead, there’s just the right dose of elasticity in the system, which is a boon when skiing.
