Intro
This binding was released for the 23/24 season but we couldn’t test it. It’s a fully featured offering packed with user-friendly solutions that make it ideal for a wide range of tourers. Great care has been taken to reduce the effort required to step into the pins at both front and back, where a rubber stop and support on the arms aid the operation front and back. The ISI toe has an enlarged support base, while the reassuring heel should allay the fears of those who are perennially suspicious of the small size of pin bindings. Recycled or bio-based plastics.
Fit
This looks like—and indeed is— a fully featured piece of kit, less minimalist than the Alpinist at the heel, and with a rather traditional mechanism for transitioning. The brake is burly and effective, it takes some effort to stow in walk mode, but just needs a firm press. When transitioning from walk to ski mode (by rotating the heel 180°) the brake is automatically released, meaning there's no risk of forgetting to deploy it. Heel risers are super-easy to use with a ski pole. Nice long, low-profile slider plate. The toe features a stomp plate and modern drilling pattern. A tough, no-nonsense and easy-to-use model.
