Intro
The Quattro lineup expands with this new model which focuses more on comfort than pure performance, meaning it aims to appeal to a wider audience with different needs. It looks like the classic Quattro, with Alpine Axial Hybrid construction and GripWalk sole, but with a more comfortable fit and softer plastics. A few millimeters have been added to shell length and width, along with extra padding in the liner and a thermal insole.

Walking
The cuff offers excellent fore-aft range of motion, with impressively low resistance from the plastics for a four-buckle boot. However, on longer climbs, it trails the competition slightly, as its marginally higher weight begins to make itself felt. A boot for easy-going skinning, alternating with some bootpacking to access that perfect line. No crampon-compatibility issues.
Lab
Excellent entry and exit thanks to the Desmopan plastics, which can be adapted easily and offer a more generous fit than the SL. The foot is comfortably accommodated, free of pressure points and unconstricted. If you’re coming to touring from inbounds skiing, you ’ll likely find positioning the tongue and cuff wings before closing will take a little getting used to. Four buckles plus Velcro and a very intuitive ski/walk lever for an easy-to-use, no-frills boot.
Skiing
Direct comparison with the SL is tricky, as the GT is aimed at a very different audience and the skiing sensations are also different. Comfort here is the order of the day at the expense of a bit of precision, though this is inevitable if you’re after a boot capable of transmitting every single input to the ski. The shell without carbon inserts tends to twist when driven hard. Skiing is necessarily more relaxed, flex is soft but very progressive—something that’ll help you if you like twisty turns at moderate pace. Not a boot for extremes. Excellent for all-day use, alternating between inbounds, skinning and sidecountry.
