Intro
The Ubac collection's redesign is a resounding success. It hasn't just got a sleek new look, but has also seen changes in materials and geometry. A scratch-resistant topsheet stops snow from accumulating in ascent. The high-quality construction and finish make ample use of recycled materials. And the square tip and tail and high, progressive rocker give a clear indication of what this model is built for. Only available as a unisex model, but in a range of lengths.
On the snow
At first glance the 102 may look like a beefier version of the 95, designed to go hard on soft snow. But the difference is actually much greater. The 102 is a lot more stable and delivers much better float thanks to the centered mount point, a few more mm underfoot and three extra cm in length. But it's nowhere near as agile, and more sluggish when changing edge. Once you've set your course it doesn't like any sudden changes and nor does it love tight terrain, where you have to use your feet and change pace quickly. This ski prefers wintry conditions, with the right type of snow on wide open terrain, and the occasional uphill.
