Intro
The Ambin group is a sub-range that divides Italy and France and its towering peaks are the inspiration behind the craftsmanship of all Ambin skis. There are four models in their product catalog, each of which can be ordered with custom graphics. With a waist width of 90 millimeters, the Farinel is the thinnest and most versatile.
On the snow
Ambin skis are all handcrafted and made to order. For the first year of tests for the Buyer's Guide, the personality of the Farinel really impressed us. Sold in a single length, this ski makes a great first impression, and its shape makes it a good candidate for a one-ski quiver, giving you the same sensations on groomers as with skins. It's not a ski for everyone, but will be well received by pros and other talented skiers. As soon as you start a turn on packed snow, it helps the edges bite and invites you to apply some weight to optimize carving. At the same, it transitions easily and facilitates changes in turn radius. It closes the turn well if you stay on top of it, but it won't lend a hand if you lose your way halfway through. The position of the bindings is also spot-on. All things considered, including weight, it could be the all-round ski you've been looking for.
