Intro
A very traditional ski with lots of camber at the waist and a low tip. It is a tapered tip, though, which gives this ski its freeride look. This all-mountain ski is designed for a bit of everything, although it prefers hard terrain or chop. In terms of construction, solidity has been the focus over weight, placing this ski at the heavy end of its class. There's lots of carob wood and titanal, with a straight sidecut and burly edges all along the ski, even at the tip. A ski for those who want durability and performance.
On the snow
Take a giant of a ski, make it wider, and add some rocker. The result is ski that give amazing performance on lots of terrain, so long as you've got the strength and the technique. It's not a ski for everyone. It's a thoroughbred and, as such, it's to be ridden by those who know what they're doing. If you do, it's much more manageable than you might expect. It doesn't carve with a flick of the foot, especially in tight turns, but it comes into its own on its edges in wide-open spaces. Starting the turn takes a bit of work since the tip doesn't help much, but then it's like being on rails till the transition. Here, the responsive tail sends you right back onto the next line. Off-track, it's super stable in chop, on crust and on moguls. Its structure and narrow waist means it struggles a bit in powder. Paired with a good, solid boot, it can be the right ski for a combination of groomers, sidecountry and brief ascents.
Lab
Slightly concave throughout the base and more pronounced at tip and tail, not completely fixed after 8 runs through the machine. No structure, limited wax. Good edges, 1.5 x 2 mm at 90°, base edge 1.5°. Not much finish, edge to be removed at tip and tail, a bit of rust.
