Intro
Debuting with the award-winning Zero G Tour Pro light, this was Tecnica’s offering to the world of lightweight touring. Now in its fourth season, it remains one of the leading benchmarks for the most demanding skiers in this class, making downhill performance a prerequisite even in a lightweight product that also hikes really well. The cuff is different from the Zero G Peak Carbon, which is full carbon instead of carbon-loaded Grilamid.

Walking
You notice how well-balanced it is even before clicking in: excellent roll, swift and responsive, with great fore and aft ankle freedom of movement, yet not excessively so as there's also good support. Weak ankles can proceed with the buckle closed and the ski/walk mechanism open at difficult sections when you need to use your edges. Liner padding contours the ankle bones well and the foam is technical, well structured and transmits inputs well.
Lab
Compared with boots with a similarly technical fit—and indeed touring boots in general—it’s easy to step into, though we’re not quite at the level of the Kilo. Same goes for taking them off, just tip the cuff back. Boot closure is intuitive but correct attachment of the cable to the catch can be a bit fiddly (the pull loops on the buckle cables are a particularly nice touch). The fit is well crafted with all sections nicely balanced, though it's still more forgiving than in the F1 series, which is its direct competitor. Some possibility for bootfitting.
Skiing
It doesn't disappoint when driven hard because the flex is supportive and nice and progressive. With a more central stance and a less powerful drive, it works well on 90 mm skis weighing around 1,400 grams (3 lbs.). The biggest surprise is its edge-holding performance, enhanced possibly by the composite shaft embedded in the sole: edge engagement is super swift, rearward support is ample, and above all it's responsive when you start pushing hard. At the same time, it's one of the most comfortable and well-balanced in its class. The liner foam is robust, but cozier and more flexible than the average. The instep is anchored as if it had a 45° buckle, somewhat less the heel and Achilles, but a good heat molding will yield a perfect fit.
