Intro
This ski made its debut last season, but already has a new graphic, though it's still the same under the topsheet. Part of Dynastar's touring range, in place of the M-Tour 86 and alongside the M-Tour 90, using new shapes and lighter, more sustainable construction materials (Hybrid Core 2.0 in Paulownia and PU with basalt fiber). It has an early-rise tip and progressive early-rise tail to aid float and avoid hooks.
On the snow
This ski brings the same feeling to touring that the M-Pierra Menta has brought over the years to competitions. It's forgiving and aids improvement in intermediate skiers, but also fun for those with better technique (especially on short turns, where its playfulness comes to the fore). Lightweight (even if this doesn't determine its performance in descent) and responsive, it skis like a dream if you stay centered, but will forgive a little sitting back. It's intuitive when finding an edge, preferring soft snow, but unperturbed by hardpack, though its rather less predictable when you hit the gas. Choose the length carefully, taking into account the early-rise rocker. All-in-all it's light and fun to ski, a nice combination that the best skiers will know how to use to their advantage, but won't disorient the average intermediate.
Lab
Very convex at the tip, almost perfectly flat after 10 passes through the machine. No structure or wax. Reasonably good edges 1.4 x 1.4 mm at 89.2°, if a little thin. Very rough finish; tuning is essential, depending on how much edge there is to work with.
