Intro
Since last season, the F1 LT has been joined by the GT and XT models. The main difference? Buckles instead of a BOA. The GT, as well as two buckles, has a Velcro power strap. The cuff and shell are in Grilamid reinforced with long glass fiber, unlike the XT which has a cuff reinforced with long carbon fiber.
Walking
Compared with the F1 LT, the range of motion is the same, though a little stiffer (The LT itself is less fluid than the Quantum, Backland and Peak). It's not a big problem, considering the category, though it means the stride is a little less supple and athletic. An acceptable trade-off for superior skiability, it translates into more support for your calf muscles on the diagonal.
Lab
Putting the liner in and taking it out, and entry and exit of the foot are easy considering the category of boot, as you can fully tip the cuff back, like with the F1 LT. There are semi-rigid lateral inserts for the new gaiter that also help. The perfect overlay of the thin, stiff cuff flaps won't pinch your legs. The foot is well wrapped even before you close the buckles.
Skiing
It's basically an F1 LT plus, where plus means excellent drive, edge and support, in relation to its size and weight. To be clear, the whole F1 family is a class act, and the choice between the GT, XT or LT is ultimately just a question of details. The buckles, using metal parts and supported by semi-stiff flaps, close even more precisely and uniformly than the already excellent BOA and firm, thin liner of the LT. On the other hand, the BOA is unbeatable in terms of comfort. The GT plastics are softer than the ones used for both the LT and the XT, but the majority of skiers won't pick up on the subtle change. The more noticeable difference is the Velcro power strap, instead of the sturdier cam strap on the XT.
