Intro
Just a slight restyling for the Tour 90, a ski which has gained a reputation over the years for its excellent performance in the variable snow conditions typically found in the Alps. The weight is very similar to its 100 and 108 mm siblings, an indication that it possesses a substantial structure which has favored reliability and versatility over shaving the grams. Paulownia sandwich combined with polyurethane and glass fiber and a full sidewall construction. Accentuated rocker at tip and tail, albeit the dimensions of this ski mean it's not exactly been designed for powder. On paper at least, this is undoubtedly a ski for those seeking a do-it-all tool daily driver for use in a wide range of conditions.
On the snow
This ski's strength is undoubtedly its excellent balance between uphill and downhill performance. It has good torsional rigidity and is an excellent tool for fans of long technical ascents in challenging snow and classic spring missions to distant summits. In descent, it's a capable all-rounder which will see you safely out of tight spots, but not when charged at full throttle. Driven at speed, the tip rocker dimensions are perhaps a bit big for this ski considering its intended use. It has a great shovel for deep powder and easy turn initiation even for those with sub-par technique, but has an irritating tendency to oversteer when closing turns. Excessive chatter when carving on edge, forcing you to resort to a more traditional foot steer to drive it round turns. Without doubt, this is a ski that will help newcomers to the sport to develop and grow, but is not ideal for skiers with an aggressive style.
Lab
Base varies from concave to convex. Not completely flattened after 10 runs through the tuning machine. Only sanded and waxed. Decent edges 1.5 x 1.6 mm at 88.8°, base edge 1.1°. Different edge width measurements between the two skis. Rough preparation of base and edges. Tuning required.
