Intro
A fresh new look for the top model in the women's tour segment by La Sportiva, designed with a new-school feel. Similar to the men's model with a narrower last and softer plastics (glass, rather than carbon, fiber for the cuff), it is designed for ski tourers looking for performance in descent.
Walking
Better in walk mode than the comparable Gea and Gea RS models, with excellent cuff mobility and no pressure points or rubbing around the ankle. Considering the lateral volume of the boot, which is almost too wide for the sole, we recommend wearing crampons when walking on steep or icy terrain and on rock. The only bum note is the sloppy feeling of the liner within the shell, which could probably be resolved with heat molding. Suitable for long or multi-day tours.
Lab
Easy to put on with no pressure points, thanks to the scissor construction on the cuff. The buckles, especially the lower ones, are not intuitive to use straight out of the box; keep the instruction manual to hand. Once you have it figured out and set up though, it's quick and easy to use. The liner is well built, sufficiently thick and warm, which is a plus for anyone looking for maximum comfort. The rear lever is easy to engage even if it doesn't stay completely still in descent.
Skiing
Perfect for intermediate skiers who are transitioning from a light two-buckle model to a stiffer boot, looking for performance in descent. It does best on skis from 85 to 100 m underfoot, as long as the skier isn't too heavy or aggressive, as the plastics in the scissor cuff tend to bulge when put under a lot of pressure. A nice balance between comfort and precision, even if the latter loses points for the excess space in the toe box. It grips well on the traverse and offers good rear support thanks to the thick, stiff liner, which forgives any mistakes going into a turn.
