Intro
Switzerland's Movement skis needs no introduction in the world of skimo, it has one of the most varied collections out there: from Race Pro and Fast, via the legendary fat-yet-light Alp Tracks, to the new Session and Fusion lines. The Session 90 is the middle child of the series, which also includes women's models and a kid's ski. It looks as sleek as we have come to expect from Movement. Made from paulownia woven with carbon and fiberglass, it has an anti-chatter cork tip with a shallow, progressive rocker, and classic, positive camber underfoot.
On the snow
Anyone who thinks Movement produce only lightweight, ascent-oriented skis that are twitchy on the downhill is about to be pleasantly surprised by the Session 90. With a generous tip and lots of effective edge, combined with just the right amount of rocker at the tip and tail that helps when releasing a turn, this ski feels great on all types of snow. It really helps less confident skiers, especially on hard terrain and initiating turns. A soft and cooperative ski, when releasing turns it has some nicely progressive pop that helps you find your rhythm during turn sequences. Perfect for relaxed skiers who are nevertheless looking for a ski that holds the edge while carving and works well on steep terrain. On the uphill, as you would expect from Movement, it really can do anything. It's ever-so-slightly heavier than usual, but the pros far outweigh the cons in this respect.
Lab
Extremely concave throughout the length of the ski, not fixed after 10 passes through the machine. Passable structure applied, not waxed. Good edges 1.9 x 1.8 mm at 89.2°, base edge 1°. Lots of rust and edges overly sharp, especially at the tip. Needs complete tuning.
