Intro
The Pagoda series is DPS's touring ski lineup. Over the years, this US manufacturer has left behind more extreme design features, opting instead for a more alpine-style build compared to the carbon-heavy layup and Alaskan sizes of the past. Pagoda waist widths range from 90 up to 112. The 105 is the new entry to the collection featuring DPS's patented CFL construction, which favors the use of eco-friendly materials with a mix of carbon, wood and flax to keep the ski responsive and light and maintain dampness. Very large shovel with ample rocker, a more classic central section underfoot and a slightly raised tail.

On the snow
The real freetour of the category. An outstanding tool in powder and wide-open terrain. This is not a do-it-all tool for weekend skiing. Rather, it's a perfect option as a second pair for using in conditions when you know you'll have a blast. This ski impresses for its nimble, responsive feel in soft snow conditions: the tip provides reassuring, consistent float and even for less proficient skier. Unlike many on the market this is a ski that doesn't tend to 'block' through turns, as it holds its shape well and doesn't twist. It will let you spend long days riding the lifts and hitting skin tracks without ending up tired. It's not ideal for aggressive skiers, preferring instead a more gentle, caressing driving style. Its limitations are revealed at speed, on hardpack and in crud, where its lack of heft becomes apparent and the tail tends to twist out when exiting turns. Very linear and predictable, and not twitchy providing its skied at moderate speeds. Lightweight and easy to use also on ascents, remembering of course this is a ski with a 105 mm waist.

Lab
Concave along entire length, accentuated at the tip, improved after 10 runs through the tuning machine. Well-executed structure applied with new technology. Features DPS's exclusive Phantom wax. Good edges, 1.9 x 1.8 mm at 89°, base edge 0.92°. Tuning finishing correct, sides could be better. For most it can be skied straight from the shop.

Safety, a culture of doubt

Beyond the basic definition, there’s nothing as variable as snow conditions and the human psyche when under emotional stress. That's why, after purchasing the right self-rescue kit and airbag backpack, it’s paramount you do your research, train, scrutinize your decisions and, if necessary, opt for plan B. And, at least for now, don’t rely on artificial intelligence.

Intro
Products for mountaineers

Once you’ve chosen your skis, boots and bindings, your thoughts then turn to harnesses, crampons, ice axe and helmet, though perhaps not everyone, and not straight away. While it’s true that when starting out, especially for those transitioning from resort skiing who just want to start surfing some pow, the important thing is to get self-rescue equipment. It’s equally true, however, that the sport we love is a combination of two words: skiing and mountaineering.

Intro
Boards, boots, and bindings for splitboarding

Materials are evolving, which is increasing the opportunities for pushing the boundaries of mountaineering splitboarding. It’s no longer just about easy tours, a few jumps and a beer. Thanks to innovative new setups and growing knowledge within the community, long ascents and steep terrain no longer intimidate.

2025
Intro
Skimo bindings

They’re probably the element of your setup that’s evolved the most and seen the most crossover between disciplines. Which is why in general lighter bindings have adapted to make allowances for the trend for opting for wider skis, with hybrid drilling patterns and a greater selection of ski brakes. But the aspect that requires most scrutiny is the height difference between the front and rear pins.
