Intro
FR stands for freeride and this series (revamped for this season) has been designed to deliver a balance between downhill fun, heft in the construction, and lightness for the uphill. Apart from the distinctive spoon-shaped HRZN 3D tip, the now signature feature of the series, the rest of the Backland 102 has been completely revolutionized. To reduce CO2 emissions and production waste this ski represents to a return to a more simple design concept employing differing densities of wood, minimal glass fiber and recycled topsheet material. Weight remains excellent for the uphill, but with clear improvements in terms of skiability and damping.
