Intro
The Evo system is ATK's breakout innovation from last season, available with the Freeraider and Raider 11 and 13 models. As well as adjustable release settings in the toe piece and an automatic brake, the Freeraider comes with a Spacer to increase contact between the boot and ski, approaching the performance of hybrid and alpine bindings. This is also helped along by the low ramp angle as well as the torsion resistance provided by the Cam system. Other than the Spacer, the main difference is in the release values. To top it off, the toe piece comes in six colors and the matte lever contrasts with the glossy wing arms.
Fit
Entry is soft and easy, even with high release settings, both up front in the toe piece and back in the heel piece, and aligning the pins is a breeze. The Spacer immediately gives a feeling of control over the ski, even before you point your sticks downhill. The Evo brake is incredibly user friendly even with gloves on, you can use it one-handed. Lock it in two moves (rotate the heel piece and then push the brake down) and engage it in one just by rotating the tower. The toe piece can rotate up to 25° to absorb shocks before returning to its central position, an increase of 9° compared to previous models. The two magnetic climbing aids are easy to use.
