Intro
Topping the Mindbender lineup, the 140 Boa is a perfect combination of high performance and touring functionality. Two BOA dials—one on the shell, the other on the liner at the top of the cuff— ensure optimum cradling of the foot for both touring and skiing. TPU shell, Pebax cuff: the plastics are freeride-grade plastic, but low weight to hit just the right compromise for modern riders.

Walking
Very easy entry, slightly hindered by the BOA cable on the liner. Outstandingly comfortable, with no pressure points, a generous fit and a well-anchored heel but not contained enough by the BOA. Excellent hike mode, better towards the rear, more limited towards the front. Walkability is akin to a lower-category boot: it feels light and is ideal for missions with 1000+ meters of height gain. Less sensitive on rocky terrain so caution required when used for climbing.
Lab
BOA on the shell and two micro-adjustable buckles on the cuff backed up by a solid elastic booster strap. PowerFit liner with BOA closure of questionable practicality: it would be better if it cinched down the lower portion. The ski/walk lever is swift and easy to operate, excellent ankle travel of around 50 degrees, not compatible with all crampons on the market. Replaceable power plate to adjust the flex, good candidate for bootfitting.
Skiing
It takes just a few turns to recognize that the 140 flex rating is just a guide—it's nowhere near that stiff. The virtually racing-style 50 mm booster works very well and delivers a nice and progressive fore-aft flex. Rearward support is adequate for intermediate skiers, but forward support is clearly lacking. This becomes especially noticeable when pushing hard with wider, beefier skis. That said, edge sensitivity and precision remain solid, making this a great option for skiers who get out 10–15 times a season and value comfort over stiffness.
