Intro
Now in its second year, this model has all the features popular in recent seasons, including the BOA on the shell, quick-release booster, GripWalk soles and absence of a ski/walk system mech. There’s no way to unlock cuff movement, meaning less play in descent, but not great for skinning, despite the pin inserts. Hard TPU plastics, race-style adjustable canting and heat-moldable ZipFit liner.

Walking
Fiddly to put on and take off, much like an alpine racing model. Better to put on the liner first and then step into the shell. Excessive room around the toes, and insufficient support and padding here. There’s no ski/walk mode, a very questionable choice on boots intended for the general public. This would make more sense on a skimo race boot. Ideally suited for short bootpacks or quick skins up moderate terrain. Avoid long skins on flat terrain.
Lab
BOA standard H+i1, backed up with two micro-adjust buckles and lock for the ascent. Well-crafted ZipFit liner with padding on the cuff and ankles, effective lace closure, some empty volumes and little support from the merino-and-neoprene forefoot. Booster features a really nice, durable multi-layer elastic strap with easy and intuitive opening and closure. Medium volume foot at 100 mm wide, easily customizable.
Skiing
Attractive design, perfect color match for a young, modern audience. The decision to leave off a walk system should serve to deliver uncompromising performance. True, this has eliminated play between cuff and shell, enhancing rear support. Unfortunately however plastics used are very soft, and these tend to distort when driven hard at speed and with fat skis. Pleasantly progressive and uniform flex at the cuff, but this doesn’t work in harmony with the shell, where lateral precision tends to be compromised. Ideal for beginner freeriders, not for pros.
