    Intro
New for the 22-23 season, this binding positions itself as a freetouring model, somewhere between the Raider 12 and the Freeraider 15 Evo. Its main features, that set it apart from the Raider 12, are the adjustable release settings that can also be regulated through the toe piece and the automatic brake, a step up from the AP. The Freeraider is even stronger and has a Spacer that offers extra support to the heel, available as an optional extra with the Raider 13 Evo. The heel piece can rotate up to 25° to absorb shocks before returning to its central position, an increase of 9° compared to previous models.

    Fit
All good, from the ease of aligning the pins and stepping in, to the smooth entry of the heel piece that helps on soft snow and with hard settings. As is often the case with ATK bindings, they work ever so slightly better with Dynafit inserts, but it's a minor detail. The release adjustment settings on the toe piece put the Raider Evo on an even higher plane in terms of overall performance than numeric values alone. The fixed release on the toe piece guarantees a medium force value, which works best when the heel piece is also adjusted using intermediate settings. When using a low release setting in the heel, all the force is applied to the front pins, while when using a high setting it is all applied to the heel. Dual adjustment evens out the balance between force and release. For those who want zero stress on the uphill, a traditional Raider 12 with manual brake lets the skier use the climbing aids without rotating the tower.
