Intro
This model only really compares to the Shift, as it works as a pin binding in ascent, then converts to a full step-in on descent, courtesy of the toe piece (with adjustable release values) which attaches to the toe structure when skiing, but is a self-contained unit weighing about 300 g which can be removed when in hiking mode. It’s a hefty piece of kit though, weighing in at about one kilo in uphill mode. It skis like an alpine binding, with the heel DIN adjustable up to 16. As with the Kingpin, transitioning from ski to walk and vice versa is actioned via a lever between the toe and heel. This lever also functions as a climbing aid, though it’s a touch low if you’re using freeride boots with limited ROM values.
