Intro
The idea for Peak, the brainchild of Andy Wirth and Bode Miller, came about in 2021, and the company's first prototypes were already on the market by the following year. Just about everyone knows about the great U.S. champion of alpine skiing, but not many know that Bode is a real nerd for ski materials. And innovation is the operative word at the company. No ordinary project, Peak skis have an image all their own. Their Keyhole Technology (oval-shaped titanal damping plates) is a hallmark of the American brand, having been used by Miller back in his World Cup days.
On the snow
The ski's unmistakable American style results in fairly non-aggressive performance on hard snow, but it adapts well to changing conditions. It's not a fat ski specifically for deep pow, nor a playful, new-school ski for jumping all over the place. It floats well in powder, but you can also have fun on your standard, everyday outing. Have you seen how Bode Miller skis? So yeah, you can play around with this ski American style, often leaning back on the tails or into the curve, but you need to know how to get back on top of it. The tail supports a whole lot of weight, but the same unfortunately can't be said of the tip, which tends to plow and oversteer in turns. You feel like you've got a shorter ski than you do, so we'd say don't be afraid to get a longer size. It's best in resort and sidecountry skiing, with the odd ascent, which can be as long as 1,000 meters if you have the right bindings.
