Intro
After a few years of apparent indecision on which path to follow after the legendary Soul 7 series was discontinued, Rossignol has picked up where they left off. The Soul name has been brought back to life as part of the Sender line, the brand's flagship freeride collection since 2020. Shape and construction feature a few callbacks to the 7 series, like the honeycomb design at the tip and tail to keep things light. But the rocker profile has been updated to make this model more versatile and able to handle all types of terrain, taking it from an entry-level model to a ski that will appeal to a wide demographic.
On the snow
Despite not being the lightest in the category, the first thing you note when you click into this ski is how light and nimble it feels. The camber instills confidence and lets you stray off piste without worrying too much about the change of terrain. The softer tip and tail can chatter on harder, more compact snow, especially when letting rip, meaning this ski is more efficient at slow/medium speeds—not one for risky maneuvers. While it may be a little limited for demanding pros, the Sender Soul 102 could be a great option for newbie freeriders, for those first ascents with a ski over 100 mm underfoot, or a single, versatile resort ski that can do a little of everything. Mounted with a tech binding you can take on some big verticals, but for better handling we recommend a more solid binding. Responsive on short and medium-radius turns, the Sender Soul is less inclined to wide, sweeping arcs.
