Intro
Now in its third year, the Cabrio collection is Dalbello’s free touring lineup. It’s divided into two macro categories—low- and medium-volume—with five men's/unisex models and two women's models. The graphics have been restyled to freshen the look, while the main features remain unchanged: hike mode doesn’t require removal of the tongue, bi-injected plastic, interchangeable rear insert and buckles with enhanced locking mode.

Walking
Fairly easy entry, great for narrower feet: tends to squeeze the instep and the fit's slightly longer than average. No need to remove the cabrio’s tongue in hike mode, so it's more practical if you lack dexterity, but it’s a feature that compromises somewhat walkability. Weight is acceptable for missions with big vert, but cuff resistance makes this a poor candidate for really long days. Suitable for freeride-level height gains and average slope angles. Poor midsole protection.
Lab
Micro-adjustable buckles with enhanced locking mechanism, difficult to open if tightly closed. Effective lock in the open position for easy walking. The ski/walk lever is minimalist but robust. It takes a hard forward flex to release it. Wide, progressive and effective booster strap. Decent range of motion, but the non-removable front tongue does increase friction. Well reinforced liner, external part of the upper in recycled material.
Skiing
A standout feature of Dalbello is their very vertical cuff that takes some getting used to, but forward lean can be increased to suit your personal preferences. The 120 flex is quite soft and not very progressive: flexing forward, you can feel a hard stop; you have to really tighten the booster strap to dampen the ride. Very precise lateral hold, sensitive edge grip, suitable for resort days and side-country with all-mountain skis. A technical boot which performs well on steep terrain, narrow couloirs and swinging short- and medium-arc turns. Not great at high speed, big mountain and XXL skis.
