Intro
Armada's iconic Declivity series has been around for a number of seasons now. There are five models in total, ranging from 82 cm underfoot to 108 cm in the ski we tested—the widest in the line since the 115 was discontinued. Aside from the 88, the common denominator is the flat profile in the center combined with the ATBX Titanal construction to ensure liveliness and stability in all kinds of conditions. Some tweaks to the structure and a slight increase in weight mean this is to all intents and purposes a new model, despite being part of the range for some years.
On the snow
If there's a flat profile model that really does the job, it's this one. The lack of camber isn't at all concerning, on the contrary, it makes this ski adaptable and intuitive in the vast majority of situations. Compared to the ARV, this is more of a directional ski that would appeal to classic skiers transitioning to a more new-school style. The classic tail and more pronounced rocker make for excellent float, sinuous turns, and an all-round progressive and versatile ski. Suitable for a wide range of skiers from intermediate upwards, including those looking to progress. Mount with a hybrid binding at the least to take on a variety of routes and verticals. This is a playful ski that feels narrower than it is, able to maneuver through tight spaces and always lots of fun. Watch out on hardpack, where the nose tends to chatter and you'd be advised to take it down a gear.
