Intro
Modello nuovo dal look alpino moderno, overlap da freeride a quattro ganci con un meccanismo ski/walk ben integrato nel sistema che si colloca al top di gamma nella proposta touring del marchio svizzero. The PU shell and cuff denote a boot designed for durability and the thermal comfort necessary for frigid winter days. For now, this is the only freeride boot with pin inserts produced by Scott. In the next few years, it’s likely we’ll see them releasing an entire series based on this mold.
Walking
Pretty fast foot entry, high comfort for most feet up to medium width. Ankle range of movement is decent, and faithfully follows the movements of the calf and shin, allowing for short, easy climbs with a medium-fat setup. The high pivot point tends to push the foot forward when stride is markedly lengthened, meaning its better suited to more leisurely outings on moderate slope angles. Excellent as an entry-level tourer and as an introduction to freetouring.
Lab
Four shaped alpine-style micro-adjustable Ergal buckles which can be secured to the buckle catches when hiking, plus a quick-attachment durable elastic booster. Small ski/walk lever positioned under the cuff buckle, fiddly to operate with gloves but with a very clean design. A well-finished liner with two loops placed at the top to aid foot insertion. Dual-certification GripWalk sole, lacks midsole protection.
Skiing
Despite its declared flex of 130, as this is Scott’s only model in this category, the decision was probably made to keep it suitable for a wider public. The result is a boot with a progressive but very soft forward flex, suitable for the speeds and more relaxed style of those just starting out in the world of off-piste. Rearward support tends to be better than forward, offering good suspension during those backseat moments or when sinking in the powder. However, it’s better not use it with overly fat skis. This would be the ideal one-quiver choice for mainly resort skiers, or also for a mix of groomers and sidecountry on narrower skis, for entry level or occasional use. Modern, non-new-school technique, but suitable for younger skiers.
