Intro
The entire Pure family is inspired by the style and preferences of Swiss superstar Jérémie Heitz, who developed this diverse line of skis, which ranges from the 77 mm Pure Piste to the 115 mm Pure Pow. What unites them all is speed. Have you seen how Jérémie skis? No matter how open the slope, by the bottom you can still count the number of turns on one hand. So what does he need? Solid construction, strong materials, no surprises. If you need to change direction all of a sudden, you need to be able to turn at high speeds without the ski falling apart. That's what the titanal sandwich construction with poplar and ash core is for.
On the snow
Just based on the width alone, you shouldn't expect a ski for fresh snow or deep powder. But it's not even a ski for steep, icy gorges. It's hard to pinhole because it's not your normal ski. What is clear is that it wasn't made for the general public. It's a ski suited to just a few styles of expert skiers, but it can be great fun for those who are able to appreciate this type of ski. With a step-in binding, it's a resort ski to plow through chop, moguls, sidecountry, and any other terrain. It holds its own anywhere, so long as you ski fast and confidently. Its mono-directional profile is suited to old-school skiers who are either heavier or both powerful and technical. With lots of tail support, as well as lateral precision and support, you could call it a narrow big mountain ski for challenging conditions. It won't help low-level skiers start their turns, as it calls for skillful footwork.
Lab
Concave from tip to tail, nearly totally corrected after 9 runs through the tuning machine. Only sanded, not waxed. Decent edges 1.6 x 1.8 mm (one is thinner) at 89.4°, base edge 1.5°. Rough finish with rust, needs tuning.
