Intro
Though there's only a millimeter's difference underfoot compared to its predecessor, that's enough to make this a completely different ski, while maintaining the geometry and vibe of the M-Free collection as a whole. The cutting-edge profile, where camber and rocker are measured out in such a way as to maintain excellent skiability on compact snow, without affecting the float required of a freeride ski. The medium width makes this a good candidate for a one-ski quiver for dyed-in-the-wool freeriders—those who wouldn't be caught dead skiing anything less than 100 cm underfoot. The M-Free 100 may look docile, but rest assured it requires a firm hand.
On the snow
The first impression when you take this ski out on the snow is one of solidity. The stiff flex is softened by the modern shape with rockered tip and tail, but this remains a demanding ski. The solid construction is perfect for strong, skilled, powerful skiers with a hybrid binding, or even an alpine step-in. The underfoot camber absorbs shocks from the terrain, plows through chop and crust, and works in harmony with the shallow sidecut to deliver incredible float. There's not a lot of pop so it's not so suited to jibbing; more fast, straight lines or stability when landing cliff jumps. Though it weighs in at well under two kilos, this is not a ski for medium-long distance climbs. Stick to straightforward in-resort freeride, with the occasional brief climb from the top of the lifts.
Lab
Base almost completely flat after 3 passes. No structure, just ground and waxed. Edges a little rough but pretty good otherwise, 1.9 x 2 mm at 89°, base bevel 1.3°. Protruding sidewall. You can tune it to perfection in no time at all.
